Umm... Hello?

So now it's been so long since I've blogged that I have stage fright. So much to say...Where to begin? I'm hoping that I'll come back and make each and every one of these topics into a post, but who the heck knows if that'll ever happen, so here goes...

1) I spent a fabulous weekend away the first weekend in March. My plan was to relax away from the short people, and instead I literally worked myself into the ground landscaping my girlfriend's front yard. Lots of dirt therapy. It was a blast and though I was sore for a couple of days, I'm super happy I went.

2) Emily spent eight days in February with a 105 degree fever. Lots of doctor visits, blood work, an ER visit, a lumbar puncture... She had a bizarre virus. No one else got it and no explanation was found.

3) Mary has been diagnosed with ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. She began medication about 10 days ago. I've decided that too many people have too much to say about whether or not to medicate and whether or not she even has it, but I'm pleased with the progress we're making and we're on a wait list for therapy. If you have something encouraging and non-judgmental to say about this, great. If not, delete your comment and move on with your day.

4) I am an idiot. I had a birthday party at my house last Saturday for Timothy and I'm having Emmie's 1st birthday party this coming Saturday. Between doctor appointments and party stuff March is beginning to feel like December and I really hate feeling overscheduled.

5) I'm looking forward to April and trying to figure out a way to slip out of town for a few days to see my sweet friend up north. I want to move heaven and earth to make this happen, but truthfully, I'm just at the mercy of those around me to make it work.

Okay, that's about it. I have about another 15 minutes while the kids are having their computer time and I'm just pleased as punch that I've managed to post anything at all. Now I'm going to go downstairs and grab my camera to see if I can get some pictures downloaded to post.

Whew.

I hope I'm the "up north" friend. Yippee for me! :)

As the mother of a "special needs" kid, I applaud you for taking care of Mary regardless of the difficulties you face.

Friend, you are a great mom and I admire you! Thanks for blessing me with your friendship--a true treasure.

You will be pleased (or some other positive/relieved/the world-will-go-on adjective, I HOPE) to hear that your adorable cousin Marky Mark also was diagnosed with ADD or ADHD in his youth. He is a well functioning human being, talented in many areas, loving father, goes to work every day, and is a proud holder of a Masters Degree, (though arguably I am the dual holder because I helped him a little too much on his thesis), but the Bachelor and all the course work he himself is solely responsible. I know you know the kid beyond the labels and will do great.

Hey - I missed you!
Best wishes with the situation with Mary - two of my kids have forms of ADD - it is why I have a 16 yo. that is not driving just yet - BUT she has only been medicated once for a short time - and we hated it. It takes her a little longer to do some things - but she is terrific. WE found the medication dulled her personality and it wasn't a side effect we wanted to "deal with". But there are new meds - we've just never explored them.
Just my personal experience -
YOU have to decide prayerfully what is best for your child.

So happy to see you back! I was missing you and then I got too busy to blog or check my blogs. Thought I'd pop in and see if you're updated. I'll come back and leave a comment about your post when I get a little more time. Nice to see you back, though!

PS...Wish I was the friend 'up north' you were coming to visit.
